F. requently A. sked Q. uestions

How soon after my amputation can I be fitted with a prosthesis?

This will vary from person-to-person.   Occasionally a temporary prosthesis will be presented immediately after surgery, however, doing so could be counter indicated for patients with circulation, healing and other problems.  Typically the waiting period is 8-12 weeks or until the swelling goes down and your doctor gives his or her approval.

Where is the Chat Room?

Amp-U-T  Chat began as a chat room (see about.htm) but was discontinued in that format when health problems took precedent.  There were other considerations as well.  We considered re-starting the chat room using a JAVA script based service, and we considered using a message board; but for reasons that will be explained in a future update, that will not be happening.  IF we determine that it is feasible to resume chats, we will make an announcement via the email list.
